Brookline and AB came head to head in a tense battle of team spirit and resolve, ending with a resounding win on their home turf. New divers, Zoey Jin, Aarushi Khatri, Darcy Lillie, and Sophia Manfrim, competed in their first official meet, showcasing their new skills in the forward, inward, and back dives. Diving Captain Kimaya Gazula and Senior Shruthika Muthukumar Veena both performed well in their first meet of their senior season.
For a strong start to the meet, AB took first in the 200 Medley Relay with Caroline Tyrrell, Katie Crowley, Isabela Texiera, and Katie Baxter, finishing solidly in the lead with a 1:57.43. AB also took second in the 200 free relay with Sater, Crowley, Zhou, and Kozhemiakina and first in the 400 free relay with Tyrrell, Sater, Baxter, and Teixeira, finishing the meet strong.
In addition to the success in the relays, the girls showed their strength in the individual events. Captain Olivia Sater finished first in the 200 free with a state cut, and Junior Mariel Tan finished third with a sectional cut. Captain Chelsea Zhou finished second in the 200 IM with another state cut while Senior Captain Katie Crowley and Junior Katie Baxter both made sectional cuts. In the 50 free, Junior Caroline Tyrrell took first with a state time. Sophomores Kozhemiakina and Sun followed close behind her. Captain Sater claimed another first place in the 100 fly and Junior Emily Zhou finished second with a 1:09.65. AB made waves in the 100 free with Junior Isabela Teixiera finishing first as well as a 4th place finish from Freshman Sophia Ostapenko. In the 500 freestyle, AB saw great success against Brookline with Kozhemiakina coming in first with a state cut, and Junior Mariel Tan finishing third with a sectional cut. The girls won a decisive victory in the 100 back, sweeping the event with Zhou, Tyrrell, and Baxter, all achieving state cuts. Capping off the meet with the 100 breast, AB’s Isabela Teixeira won the event with a team record of 1:06.25, followed closely by Crowley and Zhou.
