Avenging last year’s loss, the AB girls showed their spirit in their win against Lexington. Up 91 to 77, spirits ran high as both teams fought hard throughout the meet.
Leaping into the diving portion, Zoey Jin, Darcy Lillie, and Shruthika Muthukumar Veena dove well and with great spirit. Zoey scored 179.40, Darcy scored 150.97, and Shruthika scored 145.88. All divers showed their previous hard work in their dives.
In the 200 Medley relay Chelsea Zhou, Caroline Tyrell, Isabela Teixeira, and Katie Baxter pulled off a smooth first-place finish alongside Vibha Iyer, Grace Connor, Emily Zhou, and Cassandra Bellora, who finished fourth. Olivia Sater (1), Mariel Tan (3), and Caterina Nicu (5) gave their all in the 200 Free, widening AB’s lead by 4 points. Lexington’s swimmers gave a good fight in the 200 IM, pushing Kira Kozhemiakina (3), Chelsea Zhou (4), and Katie Crowley (5) lower on the leaderboard, closing the gap. Emboldened by this, Isabela Teixeira (1), Katie Baxter (3), and Emily Zhou (5) gave AB its 6-point lead back in a strong 50 Free race. In the 100 Fly, AB swimmers, Chelsea Zhou, Mariel Tan, and Julia Xiao stepped out of their comfort zones to swim in what would be a nerve-wracking heat. Although outpaced by Lexington, the swimmers still managed to come in third, fourth, and fifth respectively, keeping AB in the lead by just 2 points. Switching gears to the 100 Free, Caroline Tyrell (1), Michelle Sun (2), and Caterina Nicu (6) came in head-to-head with the Lexington swimmers, just fast enough to give AB 10 points. With spirits running high, people from the deck to the stands cheering deafeningly, Olivia Sater, Katie Crowley, and Kira Kozhemiakina powered through the 500 Free in second, third, and fourth place respectively. Olivia Sater smoothly made the states and sectionals cut time with a 5:45.84. In the 200 Free Relay, Katie Baxter, Mariel Tan, Kira Kozhemiakina, and Olivia Sater kept up their consistency, swimming a 1:49.77 and coming in first, therefore securing the lead. Caroline Tyrell (1), Michelle Sun (3), and Vibha Iyer (5) went on to crush the 100 Back, with Caroline Tyrell swimming a whopping 1:03.74. In the same vein, Isabela Teixeira (1), Emily Zhou (2), and Julia Xiao (4) furthered AB’s lead in a beautiful 100 Breast, giving AB a strong 91 to 65 lead. Not letting their spirits go, the AB girls solidified their win in the 400 Free Relay, with Katie Crowley, Katie Baxter, Caroline Tyrell, and Isabela Teixeira working together to grab a 3:54.59, well enough to easily place first.
